Elspeth Boxall (NES Pharmacy Senior Specialist Tutor) discusses the role of the DPP with Ailsa MacDonald (NES Pharmacy Lead for Prescribing and Clinical). The background to the development of the DPP role and the reasons we need more DPPS are discussed. Ailsa also outlines the key benefits to the profession and the individual of taking on the role of a DPP.

Elspeth Boxall (NES Pharmacy Senior Specialist Tutor) discussed the changes to the Initial Education and Training of Pharmacists with Prof Andrew Sturrock (NHS Education for Scotland, Director of Pharmacy) and Roisin Kavanagh (NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Director of Pharmacy). They provide an overview of the key changes and what the impacts of these on practice. They highlight how all staff should be involved in supporting learners in practice and the different roles that they can take.
